Earth Day 2017: Protest Global, Act Local

As Washington backtracks on its commitment to the health of the planet, local green initiatives are becoming more important. earth day 2017This Earth Day is a reminder that what we do locally makes a difference — and that it sends a message beyond our community.
Nyack’s 5th annual Earth Day celebration will be held on Sat April 22 from 12n-5p at the Main Street Gazebo at Cedar Street. The Nyack Chamber of Commerce hopes this event will raise awareness and encourage local action to maintain a healthy and sustainable community.
Stop by to see Earth-friendly demonstrations about recycling, gardening and composting. Vendors and artisans will offer environmentally friendly and sustainable products and services. Kids’ activities include arts and crafts and a pop-up playground. And there will be live music, too.

Making Earth Day Matter

On Saturday, you can do your part to help Keep Rockland Beautiful by pitching in at one of the Community Clean-up events in Nyack, Central Nyack, Stony Point, Airmont and Sloatsburg. The Nyack Community Cleanup kicks off the day at 9:30a at the Earth Day Nyack event site. Learn learn how to pitch in at KeepRocklandBeautiful.org.
Do you dig Earth Day? The Village of Nyack is looking for volunteers to help plant 19 new trees on Sat April April 22. If you can spare a few hours to help, email for details.
