See Hayden Arp and Raina Sokolov-Gonzalez Play Union Arts Center Tonight

Hayden Arp

Hayden Arp

by Ethan Cohen
Local up-and-coming musician Raina Sokolov-Gonzalez will open tonight for D.C native Hayden Arp in a show that is sure to be one of intensity and beauty (full disclosure: I play drums in Hayden’s band). Both Hayden and Raina bring sets of original music of differing yet complimentary styles. Come join us and support live music and young artists in the Hudson Valley. Luke McCrossen will support Raina on bass; Hayden and I will be joined by NYC native Griffin Jennings (guitar). The concert is in Sparkill at the Union Arts Center beginning at 7:30 pm. Visit http://uacny.com/ for ticket information and directions.
Raina Sokolov-Gonzalez is a singer/song writer from New York. Her singular soulful sound brings together Jazz and R&B influences with a depth and fresh edge. She has been seen on stage at Stimmen Festival, Vision Festival NYC, and travels across the country with Rev. Sekuo and the Holy Ghost Band. Check out her weekly set at Caffe Vivaldi in the village or you can hear her debut album Contender on iTunes, bandcamp or CDbaby.com.
Hayden Arp makes music with different people, in different places, with the common goal of creating moments of communion in the world. He was raised in Alexandria, VA, and attends the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio, where he studies electronic music composition. He has written, recorded, mixed, and released original music for over 8 years, and has performed in venues such as DC’s The 9:30 Club and New York’s Terminal 5. This summer, he will be releasing “For Gabriel,” a four-song EP recorded to be impossible to recreate acoustically, and will be touring the east coast in August to support the record. In the fall, he will be taking the semester off from school to tour the country as part of an ongoing collaboration with his friend and fellow Oberlin student Griffin Jennings.
