Rockland County Dems Pick Carlucci

By Richard Kavesh

Clarkstown Town Hall,  updated June 5 ‘€” David Carlucci, Clarkstown’s Town Clerk, was endorsed by the Rockland County Democratic Committee in his bid to be the Democratic candidate for New York State Senate District 38 representing Rockland County and Tuxedo and Warwick in Orange County. “The people of our committee responded to my message of reforming Albany, lowering property taxes and bringing jobs to the district,” said Carlucci. “I will not let them down.”

Carlucci’s platform includes a three point plan for reforming Albany: ethics reform through full disclosure of outside income by legislators, comprehensive campaign finance reform and independent non-partisan redistricting.

A roll call vote from the five Rockland County towns was abandoned after Democratic Committee members from Clarkstown, Haverstraw, Orangetown and a portion of Ramapo voters had had cast their individual roll-call votes. At that point Carlucci had received every single vote except for two for challenger Grant Valentine. At that point, the Committee voted to endorse Carlucci by acclamation.

Carlucci’s endorsement followed addresses to the convention from Carlucci and competitors Peter Dolan, Grant Valentine, and Upper Nyack’s Lou Tharp.

Rockland County Executive Scott Vanderhoef and Rockland County Legislator Ed Day are the se00eking the Republican nomination.

County Democrats also endorsed Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski and Assemblywoman Ellen Jaffee for re-election.
