NYACK ‘€“ If you think what’s happening today with the intrigue and controversy over late-night comedy and variety shows is funny, that’s nothing compared to the hilarious antics that went on when TV was young and live variety shows were making their transition from radio.
The award-winning Nyack High School Drama Club has selected the musical comedy ‘€œMy Favorite Year’€ as its 2010 Spring production, bringing to the stage a hilarious look at live television in the 1950s. To support the production, the parent volunteers of the DramaWorks organization have invited the community to participate in a pre-show luncheon on Sunday, March 14, 2010, at Nyack High School, Christian Herald Road and Route 9W, Upper Nyack.
Admission to the 12:30 p.m. luncheon also includes a ticket to the matinee performance of ‘€œMy Favorite Year’€ immediately following the luncheon. Additionally, luncheon attendees get reserve seating in the NHS auditorium for the show. Tickets for the luncheon/show combination are $20 each for adults, $15 for students and $8 for senior citizens. For tickets to the luncheon/show combination, contact parent volunteer Mary Ungerleider at dramanyackschools@live.com
DramaWorks is a non-profit, volunteer group that supports stage productions in Nyack public schools. Contributions to DramaWorks and its programs are tax-deductible.
‘€œMy Favorite Year’€ plays at 8 p.m. on March 12, 13, 19, 20; 2 p.m. on March 14, 20. Show tickets are $12 for adults, $7 students, seniors free. Show information: 845-353-7101.
