The Nyack Homeless Project is holding a coat drive on Thanksgiving morning and will be collecting coats and other items at various locations through Dec 22. Soup Angels and Living Christ Church are hosting Thanksgiving dinners for those in need of a warm meal and good company. Mon Nov 19 Hudson Link AM/PM Rush Changes
HudsonLink, the commuter bus service that replaced Rockland County’s Tappan Zee Express bus service on 10/29, is implementing some tweaks to their morning and afternoon rush hour schedules. We’ve updated HudsonLinkNyack.com to reflect the changes announced in the 11/14 press release from Hudson Link. Please note that as of 11/18, there were discrepancies in Hudson Link’s app, website, and the pdf, as these sources did not match what had been previously announced in the press release.
HudsonLinkNyack.com is a NyackNewsAndViews.com web app that provides a simplified view of the H07/H07x line between the Palisades Center and the Tarrytown Metro North station. Thanksgiving Week Trash Collection and Thanksgiving Weekend Parking
Trash will be collected Mon, Nov 19 and Wed, Nov 21. Recycling will be collected Sat, Nov 24. Please have recycling at the curb the evening before collection.
Parking fees will be suspended for the Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend from Thurs, Nov 22 through Sun, Nov 25. Remember to shop the local businesses during the holiday season and “Shop Small Saturday.”

Nyack Homeless Project Coat Drive
Before you sit down to dinner with family and friends on Thanksgivng Day, drop off a gently used coat at the Nyack Village Gazebo on Main St from 10:30a to 12p. Members of the U.S. Air Force Women’s Basketball Team will be on hand to help collect the coats.
If you can’t make it on Thanksgiving morning, the Nyack Homeless Project is collecting coats, hats, gloves, new socks, toiletries, and boxed/canned food through December 22 with donation boxes at the following locations:

Thanksgiving Meals
Soup Angels will provide a turkey dinner with all the trimmings for anyone in the Nyack area who would like a Thanksgiving meal in a welcoming, festive atmosphere (no questions asked) on Wed, Nov 21 from 4 to 7p in the First Reformed Church. The entrance is on Burd St between Cedar and S Broadway. It is accessible to the disabled. Living Christ Church, at 151 S Broadway, invites everyone to a Thanksgiving meal that can’t be beat on Thurs, Nov 22 and Fri, Nov 23 from 12 to 2p. Amendment to Village Code Chapter 120, entitled “Affordable Housing”
The Nyack Village Board recently approved an amendment to Village Code Chapter 120 entitled “Affordable Housing.” This chapter shall apply to all new multifamily developments (five or more units) in the following districts: SFR-1, SFR-2, TFR, MFR-1, MFR-2, MFR-3, DMU, RMU, RO, CC, WF, M, and H. Village of South Nyack
Elizabeth Place Park and South Broadway Overpass
On Mon, Nov 19, tree removal will begin at Elizabeth Place Park ahead of the construction of the long-anticipated noise barrier. This work is expected to last two or three days. The dog park will remain open but has been reduced in size to accommodate construction equipment. Pedestrian and bicycle access to the Esposito Trail will be maintained. Given that construction will be ongoing, please exercise caution while in the area. While the removal of the trees along the highway is necessary for the construction of the noise barrier, the Thruway Authority has committed to very robust plantings at the park following construction, including shade trees, evergreens, and ornamental shrub beds. The end result will be a marked improvement. Renderings may be viewed at http://southnyack.ny.gov.
The South Broadway overpass between Cornelison Ave and Elizabeth Place has been reduced to one travel lane so that workers can safely construct an underpass for the bicycle/pedestrian path. The intersection of S Broadway and Cornelison Ave has a new traffic pattern, as well as a temporary traffic light which is now active. All drivers must obey this signal, which now cycles Green, Yellow, and Red. The village has worked with the Thruway Authority to adjust the timing of the signals to move traffic as quickly and safely as possible.
Nyack College Move
Nyack College has hired CBRE Group, Inc., a commercial real estate services firm, as its consultant realtors for the sale of the property. The property is expected to go on the market in January, 2019. Representatives from both CBRE and Nyack College will be meeting with community officials to provide information about this big change. Additionally, the college will make a presentation at a South Nyack Board of Trustees meeting in the near future. The date of the meeting will be announced as soon as it is confirmed and residents are encouraged to attend as to be better informed about this new development.

Lane Closures Near the Bridge
Tappan Zee Constructors (TZC) is scheduled to continue roadway work and painting on the eastbound span, requiring single-lane closures on the New York State Thruway (I-87/I-287) near the bridge, weather permitting. TZC is also scheduled to adjust the temporary barrier near the westbound span in Tarrytown this week. No lane closures are scheduled on Wed, Nov 21 or Thurs, Nov 22.

River Road Work
TZC continues work near River Road in South Nyack, requiring single lane closures and brief, periodic traffic holds. Travelers should expect brief traffic stops between 7 a and 5:30p, Monday to Wednesday. Flag persons are on site to facilitate the lane closings and maintain traffic safety. School buses and emergency vehicles are given priority throughout the closure period. Cyclists and pedestrians should follow flagger’s instructions. The work also requires a sidewalk shift on River Road, with a crosswalk diverting pedestrians and cyclists from the east side of River Road to the west side. The shift is anticipated to conclude next week, weather permitting.
Shared Use Path
At the Rockland Landing, a section of the Esposito Trail from Clinton Avenue and South Franklin Street to South Nyack Village Hall remains closed for the construction of the side path. Pedestrians and cyclists are being detoured to South Broadway and through Elizabeth Place Park. Crews will begin tree clearing and grubbing activities at Elizabeth Place Park on Mon, Nov 19 in advance of the construction of a highway noise barrier. The operation is scheduled to last up to three days. Access to the Esposito Trail and a portion of the park will be maintained, however visitors should exercise caution in the area. Flag persons will be present during construction operations. Additionally, crews will continue construction of a retaining wall along Hillside Avenue, necessitating temporary lane closures. Flag persons will keep traffic moving by alternating the directional flow between east and west. Ramp construction will also continue for the new connection between Interchange 10 and Hillside Avenue.
