Nyack Awash in People Powered Pop-Up Concerts

Dozens of tiny concerts featuring local artist and intimate audiences brought together the Nyack community. Enjoy our latest photo shoot.

A scene from the Nyack Community Arts and Music Festival (A Porchfest), where dozens of bands and solo artists played to small, vibrant crowds on porches, driveway and yards throughout Nyack. (All photos by Andrea B. Swenson — scroll down for more photos, including a slideshow.)

If you took a 10- or 15-minute walk through Nyack neighborhoods on a recent sunny Saturday afternoon, you were bound to encounter a handful of makeshift concerts as part of the Nyack Community Arts and Music Festival (A Porchfest).

The second “porchfest” in about a month, this one on October 3 (delayed a week due to the storm last weekend) featured dozens of bands and musicians playing on porches, driveways and yards. Fun for the whole family!

Fortunately, our porchtastic photographer Andrea Swenson was there soaking in the laid-back vibes and documenting the scene for Nyack News and Views. (Photos by Andrea Swenson; scroll down for a full slideshow from the event.)
