The Forgotten Occupation: Screening and Q&A

Join the Lower Hudson Valley Democratic Socialists of America’s International Commission for a screening of the documentary, The Forgotten Occupation, followed by a Q&A and discussion with the film’s director, Alain Martin.
The documentary revisits the U.S. occupation of Haiti through a letter to Martin’s grandfather, unraveling the paradox of a man who longed for American rule and a nation scarred by it. Blending intimate memory with sweeping history, the film explores exile, love, and the uneasy truths at the heart of freedom.
Proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to an organization supporting local Haitian immigrant communities, which have recently come under increased threat following the Supreme Court’s ruling on Temporary Protected Status (TPS). Admission is a suggested donation of $15. As long as space is available, no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
25th Anniversary of 9/11

Gather with neighbors in Memorial Park at 6 p.m. for a solemn ceremony honoring the lives lost on September 11 and remembering the courage, sacrifice, and service of the many who gave so much in the years that followed.

The waterfront groove is in full swing at Nyack’s Memorial Park with free performances featuring Herve Alexandre at 4 p.m., followed by the smooth jazz sounds of Mark Morganelli and the Jazz Forum All-Stars at 5 p.m.

Fall Fest Street Fair
Sunday, September 13, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Main St and Broadway, Nyack
Main Street and Broadway will come alive with 200+ curated vendors offering jewelry, art, photography, collectibles, antiques, handmade crafts, unique gifts and much more. This year’s fair is thoughtfully organized into three special zones—a Family Zone, an Arts Zone and a Live Music Zone—along with great food, outdoor dining and live entertainment. Fairgoers can also explore Nyack’s many shops, pubs and restaurants, along with local businesses.
Sunday parking is free throughout Nyack, both on the street and in the village’s five municipal parking lots. The event takes place rain or shine.
Fall Fest is produced for the Nyack Chamber of Commerce by Trade + Prosper, an event producer whose mission is to support makers and businesses by creating connections, celebrating creativity and culture, and opening opportunities for growth.
The Chamber is proud to bring together vendors, local businesses, community partners and visitors for a street fair designed to reflect the energy, creativity and welcoming spirit of Nyack.
All Together Now Chorus

Nyack’s own All Together Now Chorus opens its 5th season on Monday, September 14th, grooving to classic Rock, Soul, and Wintery tunes. We are a community based, NON-AUDITION chorus. All are welcome to join, NO experience necessary.
Come check us out for free at 5:30 p.m. on September 14. We rehearse from 6-8 p.m. most Mondays until our winter performances thru December 20th.
We’re led by Olivia Lionetti, classically trained pianist, choral director, and jazz singer, welcoming Acapella, solos, duets, and your favorite instrument.

EcoTones @ River Hook: Guardians of the Shoreline

EcoTones @ River Hook: Guardians of the Shoreline celebrates River Hook Preserve’s perch above the Hudson River and Rocklanders’ roles as Guardians of the Shoreline, on watch for what flows into the river, both positive and negative for its nonhuman inhabitants. Come walk the EcoTones Music Trail through the preserve, with musicians tucked onto trailside stages beckoning audience members to discover the preserve’s flora and fauna, followed by a large ensemble performance at the preserve’s central Haring House featuring the Hudson Valley EcoTones Ensemble, Collective Accord Vocal Ensemble directed by Dru Pluhowski, the Nyack High School Chamber Orchestra directed by Andy Bhasin, original art by Nyack High School Art Students led by Danielle McDonald, audience artmaking led by Strawtown Studio, and the premiere of new songs by composer/lyricist team Lily Greenberg & Jody Redhage Ferber centering our roles as guardians of this precious shoreline ecosystem. This event is made possible by the generous support of an ArtsAlive Grant through ArtsWestchester, the Village of Upper Nyack, ArtsRock, Greenbush Construction, Long Path Outfitters, the Bakehouse at the Tarrytown Train Station and the Friends of River Hook.

The Nyack Red Bandana Memorial Tour

Join the Historical Society of the Nyacks in commemorating the 25th anniversary of September 11th with a self-guided tour exploring the Nyack places and people connected to extraordinary lives of service, courage, and community.

At the start of the tour, visitors will receive a commemorative map and red bandanna before exploring six meaningful locations throughout Nyack. At each stop, volunteers, firefighters, and local historians will share personal stories and memories that illuminate their extraordinary lives.
The event begins with sign-in at the Historical Society of the Nyacks Museum. The tour is self-guided and is primarily accessible by car. Attendees are encouraged to explore the six locations in the order in which they appear on the map provided. Please spend as much time as you wish at each stop.
The tour runs from 12-3 p.m. Sign-in begins at 11:45 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m. Public parking is available at each location; attendees are asked to park only in legal parking spaces.
The event is free, but space is limited. Registration is required and closes Saturday, September 26 at 6 p.m.
The tour will conclude at 3 p.m. with a special memorial and commemoration at Empire Hook & Ladder Company #1 in Upper Nyack.
Tour locations include: Nyack High School, Empire Hook & Ladder Co. #1, Grace Church, Oak Hill Cemetery, Memorial Park, and the Depew House.
