Bill Batson House Portraits Exhibition

Bill Batson’s house portrait exhibition features works on loan from 15 private owners across eastern Rockland County and coincides with the unveiling of Batson’s newly commissioned portrait of the library. While the public has seen many of his Nyack Sketch Log illustrations of familiar landmarks, storefronts, and historic homes in our community, only those that commissioned these works have seen these drawings that celebrate the structures that shape who we are, the homes that shelter us. A collection of house portraits, on loan from their owners, will be on display at the Valley Cottage Library from April 1 – 29th.
Paul Tappenden Nyack & Nature

Esther Newton Made Me Gay celebrates the life and legacy of cultural anthropologist, activist, and iconic butch lesbian Esther Newton. With a career spanning over seven decades, Esther was a pioneer – questioning and challenging status quo assumptions on gender, sexuality, and anthropological methods. Her work inspired generations of scholars to pursue research in what would eventually become the field of LGBTQ & Gender Studies.

ArtsRock Classical Candlelight Concert: Sean Lee and Jingwen Tu

American violinist Sean Lee is a recipient of Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Career Grant, and has captured the attention of audiences worldwide, with performances described by The New York Times as “breathtakingly beautiful”.
Joining Sean will be pianist Jingwen Tu, who has had been hailed for her performances across America and Europe. Among other noted venues, she’s played at Lincoln Center and Bard College Conservatory, where she is a Professor of Piano.

Rivertown Film Presents Blue Moon

Composer Richard Rogers and lyricist Lorenz Hart worked together on 28 musicals and more than 500 songs, many of which are legendary classics of the Great American Songbook, among them “My Funny Valentine”, “The Lady is a Tramp”, “Manhattan”, and the song of the film’s title, “Blue Moon.” Blue Moon takes place in 1943 on opening night of the smash hit, Oklahoma!, Rogers’ and his new writing partner, Oscar Hammerstein’s first musical. Hart has left the theater after watching only the first half, retiring to theater district hang out, Sardi’s, to contemplate his life while waiting for the show to end and Rogers to appear for his congratulations. Directed by Richard Linklatter, with Ethan Hawke, Bobby Cannavale, Andew Scott, Margaret Qualley, 2025, USA, 100 minutes.
