Jim Donica Recording Live at Maureen’s Jazz Cellar
Friday, March 6, 7:00 and 9:00pm, 2 N Broadway, Nyack
“It’s hard to believe it, but my last CD release was 17 years ago”. “I’ve been steadily writing and creating music since then and working hard at my craft as both a sideman and a leader,” says eclectic and highly accomplished bassist, Jim Donica.
A seasoned performer, composer, and bandleader with a career spanning decades of diverse musical experiences, from extensive jazz collaborations to high-profile Broadway and international pop/punk tours, Donica is a true master of both the upright and electric bass.
“I’ve written and honed some great compositions, performed them far and wide, and am ready to be back home in my very own neighborhood to record them live with some of the best musicians I know”. The Jim Donica Quintet features Tim Armacost on sax, Alan Farnham on piano, Jeff Barone on guitar, Tim Horner on drums, and myself on bass. I am so pleased to be presenting this particular quintet and to be recording these tunes at an amazing venue on my home turf in Nyack, NY.
