Broadway Week: Scene Study (for Adults) with Kathleen Mahan from Elmwood Playhouse

Have you ever watched actors on stage and wondered how they do it? Now is the
chance to try it yourself! This adult acting workshop will let you unleash your inner Meryl Streep or Al Pacino in a fun and supportive environment. You will explore performance techniques using theatre games, improv and scene work. No prior experience is required—just a willingness to play, collaborate, and grow as an actor.

First Day Hike & Festival

Thursday, January 1, 11:00am – 2:00pm, Nyack Beach State Park, 698 N Broadway, Upper Nyack

Meet at the Old Hook Mountain Bathhouse to learn about winter hikes along recommended routes, enjoy live jazz music by Peter Einhord & Pablo Lanouguere, and free coffee and cocoa. Dog and family friendly.

Hiking Routes: There are three recommended hiking routes for our First Day Hike, all of which start at Nyack Beach State Park. A map of the three hikes is available here.

  • Nyack River Trail: This is the easiest of our three hikes, an ADA-accessible out and back trail along the Hudson River of up to five miles
  • Boulder’s Loop: An approximately four mile, 1.5 hour hike of medium intensity that traverses River Hook Preserve and Marydell Nature Preserve
  • Hook Mountain: This is the most challenging hike, an approximately six mile, three+ hour hike passing through both Nyack Beach and Hook Mountain State Parks. Be sure to arrive to the event promptly at 11 if you wish to do this trek!

Parking: Parking is available on a first-come-first-serve basis at Nyack Beach State Park parking area (698 N Broadway, Nyack, NY 10960), with additional parking available at Marydell Faith & Life Center (640 N Midland Ave, Nyack, NY 10960).
