Food not Bombs Weekly Food Distribution

Friday, May 23, 5:30pm, Hezekiah Easter Veterans Memorial Square, Nyack

The Nyack Food Not Bombs chapter aims to secure food that would otherwise go to waste, including vegetables donated from the various vendors and other aid organizations that have overflow. 

Food is distributed to all persons regardless of need. 

Distribution takes place at the Veterans square on main street at 5:30pm on Fridays. 

The only requirement is that the food be Vegetarian or plant based/vegan.

Music For Life’s second Night Out

Night Out is a musical variety show featuring inspiring performances from Music For Life participants. Our fall show was a wonderful and enriching success for all. Memorial Day Ceremony at Mount Moor Cemetery

Monday, May 26, 11:30am, Palisades Mall near Dick’s Sporting Goods, West Nyack

Pay respects to the veterans buried at Mount Moor Cemetery and the land that gives them eternal slumber. Help support a site with the narratives of men and women who survived oppression, 32 of whom fought in uniform, are etched in stone, that is not so easily erased.

This year we honor Jacqueline Smith Anderson, Lois E. Butler and Sandra Oby, widows of veterans.

Our keynote speaker is Susan Branham, Director, Rockland County Veterans Service Agency.

Friends of Nyack Library Book Sale

Saturday, May 31, 10:00am – 4:00pm, and Sunday, June 1, 12:00 – 4:00pm, Nyack Library, 59 S Broadway, Nyack

The Friends of the Nyack Library are volunteers who love books and who appreciate the role of the library. In sharing our love of books and understanding the vital part the library plays in the community, our goal is to reach out in a variety of ways to enhance library services.

There will be an early bird hour on Saturday, May 31 beginning at 9:00am with a cost of $20.

Art in the Open: A Regional Artisans’ Fair

Featuring original handcrafted goods including ceramics, hand-painted clothing, illustrations, jewelry, paintings, photographs, woodworking, cards, journals, candles, chocolates, and more.

Admission is free with live music and sculpture garden tours.

EcoTones @ River Hook Preserve

Sunday, June 1, 2:00pm, River Hook Preserve, 626 N Broadway, Upper Nyack

The Hudson Valley EcoTones Ensemble embeds throughout Upper Nyack’s River Hook Preserve in an innovative and enchanting live music performance, inviting audience members to embark on a musical walking journey through the preserve with jazz and classical chamber ensembles highlighting the wisdom offered by River Hook’s notable trees.

The Music Trail is followed by a sit-down large ensemble concert set at the preserve’s central Carriage House Stage by the world-class Hudson Valley EcoTones Ensemble alongside the Nyack vocal ensemble Collective Accord directed by Dru Pluhowski, the Nyack High School Chamber Orchestra directed by Tanya Chanphanitpornkit, and featured vocal soloists Ilana Davidson and Gino Sitson.

New compositions by cellist, composer & EcoTones director Jody Redhage Ferber with lyrics by poet Lily Greenberg will be premiered, as well as music and arrangements by Gino Sitson and Ben Kono. The Nyack High School art department directed by Danielle McDonald create hand-carved woodblock signs for each trailside stage, and Strawtown Studio collaborates for interactive trailside elements.

21st Annual Community Cooking Fundraiser

Sunday, June 1, 5:00 – 7:00pm, Nyack Center, 58 Depew Ave, Nyack

This delicious fundraiser is. not just about food; it’s about coming together as a community to support a great cause. Your presence and participation helps raise funds for Nyack Center’s programs that make a real difference in the lives of children and families. Join over 50 dedicated community members as they cook up a storm for a good cause.

All proceeds go directly into the Nyack Center’s programs to assist children and families in our community. Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for children, $50 for families and event sponsorships are available.

Dogs and Fashion on Broadway show in Nyack, bringing together local businesses, dog owners, and the community, pets walking the runway in matching outfits, alongside models showcasing participating stores.

5 Dogs will be available for adoption.
