Coheed and Cambria Featured at SpringFest
Sunday, April 13, 10:00am – 5:00pm, Main St and Broadway, Nyack
Nyack will bestow a key to the Village to Coheed and Cambria and declare April 13th Coheed and Cambria Day at The Nyack Chamber of Commerce’s SpringFest Street Fair, on Sunday, April 13 at 4:00pm at Hezekiah Easter Veterans Memorial Park
Nyack’s Mayor Joe Rand and Nyack Chamber of Commerce Trustee Tristan Dunnigan will give the key to the Village before the band plays a short acoustic set for their hometown fans. Befitting the band, the key was custom made by artist Peter Cheney.
SpringFest welcomes the outdoor season the second Sunday of every April from 10am to 5pm and is organized by the Nyack Chamber of Commerce. Over 250 vendors and Nyack’s favorite local stores and restaurants will have something for everyone.

Rivertown Film presents the east-coast premiere of That Kid, the first feature film of Ashley Dawson. That Kid will premier at the LA Underground Railroad Film Festival on April 17
Some recognizable Rockland County faces form the cast of the coming of age drama including attorney and Spring Valley resident L’Tanya Watkins, social media influencer and Nyack resident Max Tassey, and artist and Nyack resident Kris Burns
Set in The Village of Nyack, familiar locations include the Nyack Center, Nyack Senior Housing and Upper Nyack Elementary School.
Hip Hop artist, A-Guss appears on screen as an actor, but contributed to the soundtrack as well.
After the film, stay for a discussion with filmmaker Ashley Dawson, Nyack NAACP President Nicole Hines, and attorney L’Tanya Watkins.

About Ashley Dawson
Ashley Dawson is an advocate for political justice and community empowerment, holding a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from South Carolina State University (HBCU). She is a member of the Nyack 2030 Climate Committee in Nyack, NY. Dawson is deeply involved in various advocacy groups, including Voices of Rockland, Ending the New Jim Crow, and the NAACP, where she serves as Assistant Treasurer.
She is also the president of the Justice and Nurses Ministries at Pilgrim Baptist Church. Her contributions to community service have been recognized with several accolades, including a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition from the United States House of Representatives and commendations from the NAACP and various municipalities in Rockland County.
As a filmmaker and co-founder of Truth 2 Power, a production company focused on bridging community, education, and film. Dawson aims to amplify the voices of underrepresented communities through storytelling.
Dawson wrote, directed and executive produced her debut effort. The producer, cinematographer, and Editor was Brooklyn Demme. Norris Spotted War Turtle Branham served as Co-Producer
About Brooklyn Demme
Brooklyn Demme learned to love movies as both a viewer and filmmaker from his dad Jonathan. He co-founded Truth 2 Power with Ashley Dawson in 2020 to bring people together at the intersection of community education and film. Through film productions and educational programs Brooklyn is thankful for the chance to create work that unifies and inspires. As an actor Brooklyn has enjoyed learning from the direction of Paul Thomas Anderson in One Battle After Another (2025) and of Ashley Dawson in That Kid (2025).
