Where History Meets Modern Style–And the Houses Are a Surprise
If you love historic homes, modern interiors, and a little mystery, the famous Great Nyack House Tour is the perfect spring outing. Happening for the first time since 2019, this beloved event returns on Saturday, May 10 from 10 AM to 4 PM, proudly presented by the Historical Society of the Nyacks. It’s your chance to step inside nine of the village’s most beautiful private homes—with a few delightful twists.
Here are five reasons you won’t want to miss it:
1. Historic on the Outside, Fresh on the Inside
These aren’t your grandmother’s historic homes—at least not on the inside. Each house on the tour is a carefully restored 19th- or early 20th-century gem, updated with bold art, sleek design, and thoughtful modern touches. Its where classic architecture meets contemporary style.
2. The Houses Are a Surprise
Part of the charm is not knowing what’s next. The list of homes is revealed only on tour day, so each stop is a discovery. Expect a wide range of architectural styles, stunning details, and personal stories—every house has one.
3. A Keepsake Guidebook with Art and History
Every ticket includes a beautifully designed guidebook featuring the history of each home, a stunning watercolor portrait by local artist Bev Colgan, and a special section on the historic John Green House. It’s both a guidebook for the day and a memento you’ll want to keep.
4. You Set the Pace
This is a self-guided tour—so you’re in charge. Choose your own route, linger where you like, and take a break in town for lunch or shopping. With a detailed tour map in hand, it’s as relaxed or ambitious as you make it.
5. A Full Day of Inspiration—for Just $60
Peek inside Nyack’s most intriguing homes, gather design ideas, learn local history, and enjoy a beautiful spring day—all for just $60 with preregistration. At that price, it’s one of the best cultural experiences around.
