Virtual Author Talk with Lee Hawkins

The Nyack Library will hold a Virtual Author Talk with Lee Hawkins. He will discuss his memoir, I Am Nobody’s Slave, which delves into his family’s post-enslavement legacy and their pursuit of the American Dream amid systemic racism. Don’t miss this conversation with Pulitzer Prize Finalist Lee Hawkins!

Book Discussion: High and Rising: A De La Soul Biography

The Nyack Library invites you to take a deep dive into the cultural impact of De La Soul, the influential hip-hop group. Marcus J. Moore shares his personal story intertwined with theirs. The Burger Loft hosts the Rockland Poets who hold a poetry open mic. The suggested donation is $10.

Nyack Fresh Market invites Public for Candid Conversation

Tuesday, February 25, 7:00pm, Nyack Village Hall, 9 N Broadway

Nyack Fresh Market is asking from help from the commmunity to continue to provide a local supermarket option.

The owners and senior management hope to learn how they can better meet the needs of the village. Results of a survey currently being circulated on flyer and social media will be shared.

The supermarket, which opened in Febraury 2023, is the first to serve the local community since 1980.

Rona’s Blood Drive

Saturday, March 8, 11:00am-5:00pm, Nyack Library, 59 South Broadway

This year’s Red Cross blood drive is in memory of Rona Edwards, who died from complications from a stem cell transplant for Aplastic Anemia, an autoimmune disorder that causes the body to stop making blood cells.

10th Annual New York Fathering Conference

Fatherhood is more than a title. It’s a lifestyle. Fathers are important to the well-being of their children, their families, and their communities.

The conference will explore critical topics, including the role of fathers, parenting, mental health, equity, economic mobility, and community resources and how these subjects contribute to the happiness, security, and success of fathers and families in our communities.

Saturday, March 8, 11:00am-5:00pm, Nyack Library, 59 South Broadway

7 days a week, 7:00pm, Corner of S Broadway and Burd Street, Nyack

Anyone in need of shelter can come to the corner of South Broadway and Burd Street at 7:00pm., seven days a week, for a ride to the Warming Center. This public service includes a hot meal, a place to rest overnight and a hot shower as well as access to essential services.
