Nyack Farmers Market Concert unites Father and Daughter with Banjos and Tomatoes

Jeffrey Friedberg, music therapist and leader of the popular Bossy Frog Band performs at the Nyack Farmers Market, where his daughter, Zoe Friedberg is the owner of produce vendor Little Gem Farm.

On Thursday, August 8, The Bossy Frog Band will return to the Nyack Farmers Market for a concert in advance of their pajama party concert at Antrim playhouse on August 16.

What makes this show so special is that Bossy Frog’s founder and director of Music for Life Creative Arts Therapy, Jeffrey Friedberg, is going to be accompanying his daughter, Zoe Friederg, who recently joined the market as the owner of Little Gem Farm.

“I am so proud to share the market with my daughter Zoe on August 8 and to perform for children and families at the market again. We always have a blast. Bring the kids and the beach blanket and I’ll bring my banjo and a frog,” Jeffrey Friedberg said.

Bossy Frog was regular for years at the Nyack Farmers Market – “We were the first performers of the market in 2000. Over the years, we watched families grow year to year, including my daughter who once played the frog at the tree lighting,” Jeffrey Friedberg said.

“It was exciting spending time at the market as a kid, interacting with vendors and trying new products. Since then, I’ve loved learning about and supporting my local food systems,” said Zoe Friedberg.

“The Nyack Farmers Market is all about supporting families and communities. In the convergence of the Friedbergs on August 8th, one providing nutrition, the other therapy through music, we have the perfect farmers market pairing. Who knew banjos and tomatoes went so well together,” said Nyack Farmers Market Manager Bill Batson.

Jeffrey has been a music therapist for over 30 year and has been running The Bossy Frog Band for over 25th. He’s also recorded 8 albums of music for children and families, one of which won a Parents’ Choice Award. Lately he has been focused on building his music therapy center in Nyack. You may have seen one of the bands, The Rock n Rollers, perform throughout the county including the Palisades Mall and the Nyack Center “But I am so happy to bring the Bossy Frog back.

Little Gem Farm is a small-scale diversified vegetable, herb, and flower farm on the fertile black dirt in Chester, NY was founded by Zoe in 2023. Her farm dream was born out of a desire to provide high quality, diverse, and sustainably grown produce to her community in the Lower Hudson Valley.

“I love being able to share the farm with my family and friends!,” said Zoe Friedberg.

In their second year of production, Little Gem is focusing on 1 acre of rented land at the Chester Agriculture Center. The farm focuses on utilizing regenerative agriculture practices, promoting soil health, building ecosystem biodiversity, never utilizing synthetic pesticides, and supporting community.
