The 25th annual Rockland Pride Sunday engulfed Nyack in a sea of rainbow-colored joy on June 9.
The Rockland Pride Center, which hosts the event, along with the Village of Nyack, framed the event on its Facebook page beautifully:
“On Pride Sunday, LGBTQ+ young people were living their best lives!
LGBTQ+ young people don’t need much to be happy and healthy. They need support. They need safe spaces to express themselves and grow. They need to see successful LGBTQ+ adult role models. Pride Sunday delivered on this and more.
We are so proud of the young people who stood in front and listened to the full list of speakers at the rally. Understanding how we use our power is essential.
We are proud of the young people who are organizing in their schools. Several of these new groups marched in the parade this year.
We are proud of our young entrepreneurs who took vendor tables to sell their crafts and do henna for the crowd.
Thank you to everyone who attended and made Sunday so magical. Because of you, today’s LGBTQ+ young people face fewer adversities than previous generations.”
Fortunately, our phantasmagoric photographer Andrea Swenson was on hand to capture all the inclusive festivities. Enjoy!
