An Evening with Howard Shore

ArtsRock and Rivertown Film Society presents Oscar and Grammy winning Film Composer Howard Shore in Conversation with ArtsRock’s Elliott Forrest on Saturday, May 18th at 8pm.

Howard Shore is one of today’s premier composers whose music is performed in concert halls around the world by the most prestigious orchestras and is heard in cinemas across the globe. His musical interpretation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s imaginative world of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, as portrayed in the films directed by Peter Jackson, have enthralled people of all generations for years.

Shore joins ArtsRock’s Elliott Forrest on stage in Nyack in a conversation discussing his long and distinguished career and sharing insights into the worlds of music and the movies.

Morning Music Club Celebrates 100 Years

Morning Music Club presents a recital, “Music Inspires”, featuring 5 Seniors from Rockland County High Schools who received scholarships for excelling in music.

This year’s winners will present a variety of music for your enjoyment at this recital at the New Hempstead Presbyterian Church, 484 New Hempstead Rd, New City at 3pm on Saturday, May 18, 2024.

Concert is free; however donations are gratefully accepted.

The Hudson Valley Maker Faire

The Hudson Valley Maker Faire returns to Garner Arts Center on Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19. A Maker Faire is a gathering of fascinating, curious people who enjoy learning and who love sharing what they can do. From engineers to artists to scientists to crafters, Maker Faire is a venue for these “makers” to show hobbies, experiments, projects.

Garner Arts Center is located at 55 West Railroad Avenue, Garnerville.

The Art of the Clavichord at The Old Stone Meeting House

Our Final Concert of The Season!

Renowned musicians: pianist Rieko Aizawa, violinist Jesse Mills and soprano Ilana Davidson appear for the final concert of the 2023/2024 season at the Old Stone Meeting House in Upper Nyack, 347 North Broadway on May 19, 2024, at 4:00 pm.

The program featuring the music of J.C. Bach and Mozart (Mozart’s very first violin sonata which he composed when he was SIX!) As well as the music of Purcell, John Cage, Rebecca Clarke, and Kalevi Aho!

Rieko brings her extraordinary instrument to The Old Stone Meeting House; she inherited the instrument from her teacher, Peter Serkin, who inherited that same clavichord from his and Rieko’s teacher, Mieczysław Horszowski.

Haitian Parade and Unity Concert

Celebrate 220 years of Haitian Independence at a Unity Parade and Concert on Sunday, May 19: gathering at 1:00p, Kick-off at 4:00pm from the Spring Valley Village Hall.
