Strawtown Studio Presents Winter Crystals Workshop
You will explore the wonder and beauty of crystalline forms often found in our winter landscapes – from snowflakes, to ice crystals, to road salt. Participants will work with fine art materials, including watercolor paints and salt, to create crystalline artworks.
Weather permitting, we will start with a nature walk down to the creek in search of winter crystals, then we will head back to the studio for art-making. Come dressed for the weather!
The workshop is for all ages, but please note, adults must sign up and pay and accompany children.

Dark Side of the Hudson
Rivertown Film welcomes Dark Side of the Hudson, the authentic Pink Floyd tribute experience, back to The Nyack Center for a fifth time, on February 24. Their live performance includes the groundbreaking Dark Side of the Moon and the ethereal Wish You Were Here. Both of those classic Pink Floyd recordings will be performed in their entirety, and will be accompanied by a stunning light show with the same visuals created for the live performance of these records by Pink Floyd.
Tickets: $35 in advance – $45 at the door if seats are available. Doors open at 7:00pm – Show begins at 8:00pm. Advance sale ticket buyers must be seated by 7:55 or your seats will be sold to a wait list. Buy in advance here and arrive no later than 7:55.

Mountain Lion: Healing Film of St. Francis
Mountain Lion: Healing Film of St. Francis is a local film about family, intimate relationships, connection to the land, and the seriousness of prayer, written and directed by Brooklyn Demme. This humble production led by Norris War Turtle Branham (Council Member, Sandhill Band Lenape & Cherokee Indians) features phenomenal performances, including Nyack’s own Lily Nin and Yvette McClarty, and a knock-out of a musical score. It is intended to facilitate healing conversations within First Nations communities, but all artists know that audiences love what they couldn’t have imagined, and that’s what Mountain Lion delivers.
For one week, Rivertown Film is streaming Brooklyn Demme’s rough cut on our virtual theater, for the price of a film festival submission fee. This is a unique opportunity to see an early cut, witness the filmmaking process, and help launch a very original film that makes most others look bland. When Mountain Lion takes off, scene after scene is an imaginative and thought provoking revelation, right through its ending in Nyack.
Ticket prices are $15, $30, and $50, with proceeds going to pay festival submission fees for the film (Rivertown Film receives $5 from each order to help pay online security and administration costs). Purchase tickets here.

Illuminate the Darkness, Women of Color, Voices for Change
Rivertown Film welcomes Illuminate the Darkness, Women of Color, a unique film-based theatrical event, to The Nyack Center on Friday, March 8.
Illuminate the Darkness is a theatrical project started when Bea Conner-Pohl interviewed women of different races and ethnicities illustrating their plights, their tragedies and their achievements. It shows how they address the cultural inequities that affected them through their own unique ways of humor, common sense, heart and empowerment. It is interspersed with compelling historical theatrical re-enactment, visual interviews and audience participation. This event has also been invited to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for August 2024 performances in Scotland. Tickets are on sale here!
