
WONDER GIRLS, a non-profit, after-school program for middle, high school, and college girls with a mission to build confidence, leadership, community and business skills powers back up for its 2nd annual Teen Safety campaign and Summit on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Dominican University from 4pm to 6pm.
The army of WONDER GIRLS is on a mission to fight back, raise awareness, and prevent all forms of violence against women and children from happening in their communities by using their voices as a vehicle for change. The FREE Summit is open to teens, parents, and educators, and will be led by advocates, and experts to discuss the impact of crime and violence in our communities and preventative measures that we all need to be aware of including self-defense, first response, and online safety. WONDER GIRLS will also announce and grant the winner of the annual WONDER GIRLS scholarship for $1,500.
This event is part of WONDER GIRLS’ month-long campaign dedicated to helping teens stay safe on and offline and providing teens, parents, and educators with facts and important on how to keep our children safe. The campaign features an award-winning PSA created by high school WONDER GIRLS, and volunteer days, and a Goya Cares preventative education school assembly led by The Center for Safety and Change, offered for free to all schools.

Nyack Library Board of Trustees Forum
The Friends of Nyack Library will be hosting a forum for candidates running for the Library Board of Trustees on Monday, January 29, 2024, at 7 pm.
The forum will take place in the Community Meeting Room.
HAVE YOU GOT IT YET? The Story of Sad Barrett and Pink Floyd
Directed by Storm Thurgerson and Roddy Bogowa, HAVE YOU GOT IT explores the origins one of the most influential British rock bands, Pink Floyd. The documentary will be screened on Wednesday, January 31 at 8pm. Stay for a discussion with director Roddy Bogowa and sound designer Brian Emrich, moderated by Dylan Kelehan of The Rock Shop and Pink Floyd cover band Dark Side of the Hudson.
You may have never heard of him, but if you’ve been listening to music for a while his life as touched yours. For many people, Syd Barrett is legendary, and part of the cultural history of the 1960s.
