Weekly Rec: Summer Sing, Poetry Slam, Exotic Cars

Competitive poetry at X House, pop-up choral concert in West Nyack and Exotic Cars on Main St. in Nyack

X House Poetry Slam

X House in Nyack holds a poetry slam on the first Saturday of each month from 7:30 – 10:00pm. This performance poetry competition is judged by the audience, using an anonymous whole-room voting. X House is located at 48 S Franklin Street.

If you want to complete, bring at least 3 original poems, each of duration 5 minutes or less. If you want to read in the open mic, bring up to 5 minutes of whatever you feel like sharing.

Summer Sing

All those who love to sing or listen to beautiful live music are invited to attend the 11th Annual Rockland Summer Sing! The pop-up choral concert will be held on Monday, August 7, at 6:30pm at St. Thomas Lutheran Church, 2 Old Ox Road (across from The Hub Shopping Center). The selection will be Vivaldi’s “Gloria” and a selection of patriotic songs that will be conducted by Russell Wagoner.

No experience necessary just a desire to sing (or listen) to beautiful music. Admission $10 (includes use of music to be returned at end of program & light refreshments)

Exotic Car Night

On Thursday, August 10, Montefiore Nyack Foundation and Nyack Chamber of Commerce present Exotic Car Night.

Stroll Main Street and see hundreds of exotic vehicles from 6pm until 9pm. Stay for dinner at one of Nyack’s world class restaurants
