Roger S. Cohen is one of five candidates running for two spots on the Nyack Board of Trustees. Early voting is underway and concludes on Tuesday, June 27. The following was written for closing arguments series.
I have thirty years experience both locally and worldwide. I’m the President of the Nyack Chamber of Commerce. I also serve on the Nyack Zoning Board, the Waterfront Committee and the Nyack Business Council.
Over the last twenty years, I have dedicated my energies to the Village of Nyack. As President of the Nyack Chamber of Commerce, I have had the privilege of helping bring our downtown back to life during and after the pandemic. I also provide management of revived downtown events, including the Nyack Halloween Parade and Classic Car show.
I know about what is happening in our Village, and can bring a fresh and caring perspective to the Village Board of Trustees. Nyack has many challenges before us, including a housing crisis, panhandling downtown, major housing developments, and increasing access to Village government.
The housing crisis in Nyack is a source of sorrow to so many families. The prices of rental apartments are out of control. The Village must enact the Emergency Tenant Protection Act as soon as possible.
I am the only candidate with broad experience in Nyack, including all the organizations on which I serve. This includes being the president of the Nyack Chamber of Commerce, and a director of the tourism organization called Visit Nyack, Inc.
I thank Nyack voters for taking the time to learn more about my qualifications and experience. I invite you to review my website at rogercohen.com.
