On Wednesday night, I went online to order takeout from Karenderya, one of my favorite Nyack restaurants, to discover a deal — a pork adobo bowl and lumpia combo for $13 — plastered on the front page of their website. Now, I probably would have ordered each of these exquisite dishes anyway. But this deal saved me almost four bucks, so the order became a quick no-brainer, which was a very good thing because my brain was in no position to think much at all at that point.
Win-win.
This kind of consumer-friendly experience is the idea behind Nyack Feasts, a promotional event for Nyack’s richly diverse but pandemic-stressed restaurant scene designed by the village’s chamber of commerce.
From Tuesday, March 1, through Thursday, March 10, 30 different restaurants will be offering discounts or special offerings like Karenderya’s (each day of the “feast”, Karenderya says it will be offering a different deal — check their web site or social media for details).
Some restaurants are just offering great deals, like Karenderya or Alain’s Petit Bistro on Main Street, which is offering a 20% discount on its full lunch and dinner menus for all dine-in customers. Others, like west Nyack’s Mumbai Dreams, newbie Nyack Bar & Grill and Simard, the Broadway cheese shop and bistro that was recently a girl’s night out destination for Tina Fey, Maya Rudolph, Amy Poehler and other superstar Saturday Night Live alumni. (Important note: you haven’t lived until you’ve eaten one of Simard’s divine grilled cheese sandwiches.)
