This week in the villages: Residents of Upper Nyack have until June 30 to pay their taxes for the current year without incurring additional penalties. And the Upper Nyack “Noise Law” has been modified and will now be known as A Local Law regulating Sound within the Village of Upper Nyack. The Boards of Trustees for South Nyack, Upper Nyack and the Village of Nyack will all hold meetings and workshops. The Town of Orangetown continues their Friday Family Movie Night Series and the Town of Clarkstown will hold a Tele Town Hall. Rockland County would appreciate residents’ input with a survey to help guide the housing and community development priorities for Rockland for the next few years.

Disruption of the Village Dissolution Public Information Meeting
Last week’s Village Dissolution Public Information meeting came to an abrupt end due to an unfortunate incident and residents did not have the opportunity to ask questions. Laberge Group will address some questions at the Tue, June 8 Board of Trustees meeting.
Laberge Group is also offering “office” hours to answer your questions and hear your comments. These sessions will be 15 minute one-on-one Zoom meetings held from 8-10a on Tue, June 8, 2021 and from 7-9p on Wed, June 16, 2021. You may register for a time slot on labergegroup.com. Local Law Regulating Sound Within the Village of Upper Nyack
Upon review of comments from the public, the Village Board of Trustees has made modifications to the proposed Local Law, formerly known as the Noise Law, now named “A Local Law regulating Sound within the Village of Upper Nyack.” The modified text of the law can be found on uppernyack-ny.us. 2021-2022 Tax Notice
In order to not be given a penalty, taxes for the current year must be paid by June 30, 2021. Taxes may be mailed to Receiver of Taxes, Village of Upper Nyack, 328 North Broadway, Upper Nyack, NY 10960, or paid at the Village Clerk’s Office weekdays from 9a until 12p, from June 1, 2021, through June 30, 2021. Checks may be made payable to the Village of Upper Nyack. For all taxes remaining unpaid after July 1, 2021, interest of five percent shall be added for the month of July, with an additional one percent) for each month or fraction thereof until Nov 1, 2021, when it will be sent to the County for re-levy. The tax rate for 2021-2022 is $13.427 per $1,000 of Assessed Valuation.

Registration Open for Summer Recreation Programs
Registration is now open for all summer programs including camps, aquatics, and birthday parties. You must have a verified Community Pass account to register. If you need to create an account, you must come into the Recreation Administration Building to prove residency.
Lifeguards Needed
The town is looking for certified lifeguards and water safety instructors to work at the Clarkstown pools this summer. The pay rate for lifeguards is $14 per hour and the pay rate for water safety instructors is $15 per hour. Applicants must be 16-years-old. Hudson Valley Humane Society Microchip Clinic
Hudson Valley Humane Society will hold a microchip clinic scheduled on Sat, June 12 and Sun, June 13, 2021 from 12-3p at 200 Quaker Rd, Pomona. Your dog or cat can have an AKC-Branded microchip implanted for just $30 per pet and it includes a lifetime enrollment. Dogs must be on a leash; cats must be in a carrier (1 cat per carrier), and you must have proof of current rabies vaccination.
Public Input Needed on Housing and Community Development Needs
The opinion of housing and service providers and residents is needed to help guide the housing and community development priorities for Rockland. Rockland County is required to submit a Consolidated Plan to Housing and Urban Development (HUD) every five years. The Consolidated Plan describes the County’s community development priorities and multi-year goals, which are informed by an assessment of housing and community development needs and an analysis of housing and economic market conditions and available resources. Residents are asked take a few minutes to complete a survey available on surveymonkey.com (English) or surveymonkey.com (Spanish). A survey for housing and service providers may also be found on surveymonkey.com, The last day to complete the surveys is June 9, 2021.
