Weekender Recommendations: Spring Has Sprung

It’s going to be a beautiful weekend in Nyack, and we’ve got you covered with a full itinerary of activities to celebrate the start of May. This weekend, indulge in some much needed retail therapy, enjoy the rarified delight of live music during a pandemic, or feast on a hearty Sunday brunch. 

Friday

  • Sobro Fashion Pop-Up Sale – All weekend long, you can shop local at 75 South Broadway. Laura Graham from Archive Home will be offering a modern resale clothing collection, Mar y Sol is doing a sample sale of raffia totes, clutches, and accessories, and Smashing Vintage from Fiona will be selling a range of luxe curated vintage items—all in one place! Stop by on Friday 4/30, 4p-7p, Saturday 4/31 11a-6p, or Sunday 5/2 11a-4p, to find treasures that will bring some zest to your summer wardrobe. A portion of the sales will be donated to the Center for Safety & Change. Masks and social distancing are required.
  • Nyack Library Poetry Walk – Take a stroll this Friday—the last day of the Nyack Library Poetry Walk—to find the works of local poets displayed throughout the Villagesin shops, restaurants, and at River Hook. 
  • Dave Janeway, Cameron Brown & Billy Hart at Maureen’s Jazz Cellar – Feast your ears on some much-needed live music this Friday at Maureen’s Jazz Cellar. Doors open at 6p, showtime is at 7p, and the cover charge is $20. Call in advance to secure your reservation.

Saturday

  • Craft and Gift Sale– Mother’s Day is next Sunday and if you’re looking for something different and unique for mom, head to the Palisades Community Center from 9a-3p. Email PCC@palisadesny.com for further information. Masks and social distancing are required. 675 Oak Tree Rd, Palisades
  • Jon Davis Trio ft. Mike Clark and Leon Lee Dorsey – Head on down to Maureen’s Jazz Cellar for another night of sweet tunes. Doors open at 6p, showtime is at 7p, and the cover charge is $20. Call in advance to secure your reservation.
  • Joey G’s Nyack Food Tours – Join Joey G for an outdoor tour which moves throughout the village of Nyack. You’ll enjoy several tastes from local culinary landmarks, and learn about Nyack, its chefs, creatives, and entrepreneurs.   • Journey to Spring with Yalin Chee – Not quite ready to attend an in-person concert? We’ve got you covered. The Nyack Library Carnegie Concert Series is hosting Yalin Chee for a virtual concert this Saturday at 7:30p. Listen to Yalin Chi as she uses music to explore the range of emotions we have experienced during the last year–ending with the hopeful solo version of Rhapsody in Blue.

Sunday

  • Spring Fling Sundays – As a part of this year’s Spring Fling, Visit Nyack is presenting Spring Fling Sundays! Be sure to visit the Montefiore Nyack Hospitality Tent at Veteran’s Park (Main and Cedar Streets) to get in on the fun and pick up your Nyack Fan Card. Take a stroll around town and enjoy weekly specials.
  • Brunch-ish & Beats at The Greek-ish – Listen to tunes provided by Joe Davids Events as you enjoy a two-menu featuring specials like Poached Egg Spanakopita, Greek Honey French Toast & Fruit, or Sausage Spetsofai & Sunny Egg. Plus, Bottomless Mimosas, Bloody Marys, and Rosé on tap. $35 per person. 12p-4p.
