The Villages: Get Vaccinated and Give Blood

This week in the villages: Rockland County now has a mass vaccination site at Rockland Community College’s Eugene Levy Fieldhouse, and beginning tomorrow (Tue, Apr 6, 2021) all adults age 16 and over will be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. The blood supply is dangerously low in our area and the Palisades Center is holding a blood drive.

The links to make appointments will remain on the COVID-19 webpage to make it more accessible for residents to book new appointments whenever they become available and when cancelations occur. The Nyack Business Council will hold a meeting via Zoom today (Mon, Apr 5, 2021) at 4p.

The Village Board of Trustees will hold a Budget Workshop via Zoom today (Mon, Apr 5, 2021) at 5p.

Mayor Hammond will hold a Monthly Update meeting on Tue, Apr 6, 2021 at 9a.

And the Village Board of Trustees will hold a workshop via Zoom on Thurs, Apr 8, 2021 at 7p. Then, Zoom into the Village Board meeting at 7:30p.

Village of Upper Nyack

The Board of Trustees will hold their Annual Organizational Meeting via Zoom today (Mon, Apr 5, 2021) at 7p.

And the Board of Trustees will also hold a Public Hearing via Zoom for a local law amending the “Official Zoning Map of the Village of Upper Nyack” to include 5 parcels of land to be annexed into the Village and to locate such parcels in the Villages Laboratory Office (LO) District on Thurs, Apr 8, 2021 at 7p.

Save the Date – Public Hearing on Noise Law of the Village of Upper Nyack

The Board of Trustees of the Village of Upper Nyack will hold a public hearing on Thurs, Apr 15, 2021 at 7:30p to consider the adoption of a proposed Local Law, the Noise Law of the Village of Upper Nyack, regulating unnecessary noise within the Village of Upper Nyack. This law will also be known as Local Law #5 of 2021. The full text of the proposed law is available on uppernyack-ny.us.

The meeting will be held via videoconferencing, and transcripts will be provided at a later date. The public will have the opportunity to see and hear the meeting live and provide comments. To access the meeting an ID# and password may be found on uppernyack-ny.us. A meeting agenda will be posted on the village’s website. Comments and questions can also be provided via email before the meeting to Carol G. Brotherhood, Village Clerk at village.clerk@uppernyuack-ny.us.

Town of Clarkstown

Military Tribute Banners

If you have a loved one who has served or is currently serving in the military, consider honoring them with a military tribute banner. The banners will be displayed on the light posts in the various hamlet centers from Memorial Day to Veterans Day. The banners are a small way to acknowledge the sacrifice they have made serving the community and our country. The deadline to sponsor a banner is Apr 28, 2021. The cost to sponsor is $150. Yard Waste Pick Up

The Clarkstown Highway Department has started its Yard Waste Pick Up Program for the spring 2021 season. Information about proper waste placement and a schedule may be found on town.clarkstown.ny.us.

Rockland County

Mass Vaccination Site Opens at Rockland Community College

A mass vaccination site is now open at Rockland Community College’s Eugene Levy Fieldhouse. Eligible New Yorkers will be able to schedule appointments by utilizing New York’s ’Am I Eligible’ website or by calling the state’s COVID-19 Vaccination Hotline at 1-833-NYS-4-VAX (1-833-697-4829). Hours of operation for the Rockland Community College site are 8a to 7p, seven days a week.

Blood Drive at Palisades Center

New York Blood Center (NYBC) will host a blood drive on Thurs, Apr 8 and Fri, Apr 9 from 12 to 6p at Palisades Center. The blood drive will be located on Level One near Kay Jewelers. Participating donors will receive a digital gift card valued at $10 that can be used at a select number of businesses throughout Palisades Center.

The region’s blood supply is dangerously low, and donors are desperately needed. Donors with type O and type B blood are especially needed as NYBC currently has a one to two-day supply of these blood types.

The NYBC is taking extra precautions to help prevent the person-to-person spread of COVID-19. As always, people are not eligible to donate if they are experiencing a cold, sore throat, respiratory infection, or flu-like symptoms. Additional information on donor eligibility and COVID-19 precautions is available on palisadescenter.com. Walk-ins are welcome, but registration is strongly suggested. Register for Thurs, Apr 8 or for Fri, Apr 9.
