by Rockland Water Coalition
The Rockland Water Coalition has been working for months on your behalf on the issue of PFAS. Now we need your help to promote an organizational sign-on letter to get the attention of the Governor and New York State agencies.
In November 2020, Suez and Nyack Water companies notified Rockland residents that toxic PFAS chemicals were detected in Rockland’s drinking water, exceeding the amount allowed in drinking water in New York State. The Rockland Water Coalition has been working both to get information out to the public and to ensure that our drinking water is cleaned up as quickly and thoroughly as possible.
In the highlighted sentence below, I’ve attached a link to an organizational sign-on letter calling on the Governor for action to protect NYS residents. We hope you can sign for your business or organization. We welcome small and large businesses, houses of worship, clubs, not-for-profit organizations and any other group.
With this sign-on letter, we are harnessing the power of the people to call on the Governor to ensure safe, clean drinking water for Rockland County and for all New York residents. By signing this letter, you can help us show that the concern about our water goes beyond a few citizens making noise–this is all of Rockland coming together to ensure safe, clean safe drinking water for all.
You can help us advocate for safe, clean drinking water by asking your organizations to sign on HERE.
The letter calls on the Governor to act now by:
- cleaning up our water as quickly and thoroughly as possible;
- keeping the public informed;
- holding polluters accountable;
- informing healthcare providers and providing free blood testing for the most vulnerable;
- setting stricter drinking-water standards for PFAS at the state level;
- banning PFAS production for non-essential uses.
We need all our collective voices speaking up for our safe, clean drinking water in Rockland County!
