If you’ve lived in the village for a long time, you probably know the drill with waste collection. If you’re new to the neighborhood, or just need a refresher, here’s the deal, brought to you via the village…
Trash Schedule
The Department of Public Works collects trash on Mondays and Thursdays for residential homes in the Village of Nyack.
Trash must be bagged and in trash cans.
Place trash at the curb by 6a on collection days.
Trash cans are not to exceed 50lbs.
Recycling Schedule
Recycling is collected every Thursday. Recycling should be at the curb by 6a on Thursdays.
Recycling bins are available by calling the DPW 845-358-3552 and leaving your home address and request for paper, containers or both.
The DPW will drop off to your home within 24 hours – be sure to leave your home address.

Bulk Trash Collection
Bulk Trash Pick-Up is scheduled for the first Friday of every month.
Bulk items should be placed neatly on the curb no early than 24 hours in advance of the collection.
Mattresses must be wrapped in plastic and disposal bags are available at the DPW at 63 Catherine Street, Nyack, NY Monday – Friday 7am-3:30p or by submitting a request here to have a bag dropped off at your home. Please remember to include your home address in your request!
Household Hazardous Waste
Household Hazardous Waste is not collected by the DPW. These items include but are not limited to: paints, chemicals, mercury containing items, propane tanks, fire extinguishers, light bulbs, batteries, electronics–TV’s, computers, laptops, tablets, cellphones, etc. For more information about how to dispose of hazardous waste visit the Rockland County Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off Facility at Firemen’s Memorial Drive, Pomona, NY 10970
