This week in the villages: Fri, Oct 9, 2020 is the last day to register to vote for the November general election whether online, by mail (your application must be postmarked by Oct 9), or in person. If you haven’t participated in a virtual informational session about Rockland Community Power’s collaborative municipal energy program, you have another chance on Wednesday. The Town of Orangetown has released its tentative 2021 budget. And the Rockland Community Foundation is sponsoring a Nyack Young Writers Scholarship.
Clean Energy Program is About to Launch in Nyack, South Nyack, and Upper Nyack
In the next few days, you may receive a letter from your village about an exciting new energy program that will launch in November. The 3 Nyack villages, along with other Rockland municipalities, are proud to be among the founding members of a collaborative municipal energy program called Rockland Community Power. This program will bring 100% renewable energy to our communities, while also lowering costs and strengthening consumer protection.
Join Mayors Don Hammond and Karen Tarapata and Trustee Andrew Goodwillie on Wed, Oct 7, 2020 at 7p for a Virtual Community Meeting to learn more and get answers to your questions.
If you have subscribed to an alternative supplier and are not an Orange & Rockland customer then you will not receive a mailing. But you can take a few simple steps to participate in the program.

Supervisor Teresa Kenny’s tentative 2021 budget was presented at a recent Town Board meeting. The board will be fine-tuning it over the course of the next couple of weeks. As expected, this year’s budget was a challenge. In addition to the large COVID-related revenue losses, New York State increased the town’s pension contributions by over a million dollars.
