The Villages: Exit 10 On-Ramp Closures Wed (9/18) and Thurs (9/19) – UPDATE

This week in the villages: Roadway improvements on the NYS Thruway will now require overnight closures of the Thruway exit 10 southbound on-ramp during the overnights of Wed, Sept 18, and Thurs, Sept 19. Southbound drivers will be detoured to exit 11. Nyack’s new parking meters are getting a software update. The Village of Nyack is seeking a civil engineering firm for services related to the safe routes to the Nyack Middle School (TAP).  And summer isn’t quite over, the South Nyack Summer Concert Series concludes on Sunday with The Old No. 7 Band.

Parking Meter Upgrade: Nyack’s new Pay-By-Plate parking meters are getting a software update to simplify their on screen instructions. This week, staff from Flowbird, the company behind the new meters, will be on Main Street, Broadway, and in the Nyack Municipal Parking Lots beginning at 11a each day to explain the changes to the village’s parking kiosks.

Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for Village of Nyack Safe Routes to the Nyack Middle School (TAP) Due October 30, 2019

The Village of Nyack seeks to obtain the services of a professional consulting civil engineering firm from the Region 8 LDSA list to complete preliminary design, detailed design, right-of-way incidental, right-of-way acquisition, construction support, and construction inspection services for Village of Nyack Safe Routes to the Nyack Middle School (TAP).

Each company, if interested, should respond to this request for qualifications. The Village of Nyack will select one qualified engineering firm and will enter into a negotiated contract to perform the work. Responses are due by October 30, 2019. Fall 2019 Recreation Programs Start This Week

Just a reminder that adult and youth Fall 2019 Recreation Programs, including Paper Cutting, Introduction to Piano, T(w)een Yoga and Floating Meditation, Skateboarding, Kickball League, Kids Wrestling Club, and Fundamentals of Fitness for Adults start this week.

Overnight Lane Closures and On-Ramp Closures

Roadway improvement operations on the New York State Thruway (I-87/I-287) will now require overnight closures of the Thruway exit 10 (Nyack – South Nyack – US Route 9W) southbound on-ramp during the overnights of Wed, Sept 18, and Thurs, Sept 19. Southbound drivers will be detoured to the exit 11 (Nyack – South Nyack – US Route 9W) on-ramp. A map of the detour may be found at www.newnybridge.com.

Tappan Zee Constructors (TZC) is also scheduled to continue previously scheduled work in the area, requiring overnight lane closures on the northbound and southbound Thruway. At least one lane will remain open in both directions except during the early morning hours of Wed, Sept 18, and Thurs, Sept 19, near Thruway exit 10. State Police will temporarily hold traffic for approximately 15 minutes, twice each morning. The traffic stops will allow workers to shift barriers and equipment. Specific lane closure times are listed in the chart below.

Bicycle/Pedestrian Path

Construction of the shared bicycle and pedestrian path continues. At the Rockland Landing, construction of a new intersection at Hillside Avenue and Route 9W—which will provide access to the Thruway in both directions—continues.
