The Villages: 9/11 Memorials, Great Nyack Get-Together

This week in the villages: On Wednesday, the community comes together to commemorate the 18th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Then on Saturday, we get together to celebrate the Nyacks and the neighboring towns and villages.  Also, find out about the future for recycling in Rockland.

Great Nyack Get Together

The third annual Great Nyack Get-Together is happening on Sat, September 14 from 12n to 6p. It’s a free event, held in Memorial Park and on the Hudson River, that celebrates the Nyacks and their neighboring towns and villages while showcasing the range of services provided by the groups and individuals that constitute the fabric of the community. There will be two stages with live music, a Human Foosball Game, local authors, artists, and more.

Fall 2019 Recreation Programs

Registration is now open for the Fall 2019 Recreation Programs, including Paper Cutting, Introduction to Piano, T(w)een Yoga and Floating Meditation, Skateboarding, Kickball League, Kids Wrestling Club, and Fundamentals of Fitness for Adults.

What is the Future of Recycling in Rockland?

On Mon, September 9 at 7p at the New City Library, representatives from the Rockland County Solid Waste Management Authority will talk about numerous recycling and trash related topics, including how China’s refusal to take American plastic for recycling has impacted plastic waste worldwide.

Overnight Lane Closures

Tappan Zee Constructors, LLC (TZC) is scheduled to continue roadway improvements; they will require overnight lane closures on the Thruway near exit 9 (Tarrytown – Sleepy Hollow – US Route 9) this week.

Bicycle/Pedestrian Path

Construction of the shared bicycle and pedestrian path continues. At the Rockland Landing, construction of a new intersection at Hillside Avenue and Route 9W—which will provide access to the Thruway in both directions—continues.
