The fall season kicks off this weekend at Rockland Center for the Arts (RoCA) with an opening reception on Sat Sept 7, from 2-5p, for three new exhibits: Route 66: Outside In, Chronicles of a Life, and Contemporary Rockland Artists: RoCA Faculty Exhibit.
Albatross MO by Ellen Galinsky
Ellen Galinsky’s exhibit Route 66: Outside In presents photography of time erased and nature’s erosion and recreations. Her photos seek answers to some of life’s most seemingly intractable questions: What happens to what we try to create, try to maintain, and try to preserve?
Sergio Castillo’s exhibit Chronicles of a Life chronicles his life and that of his community. Sergio didn’t set out to be an artist but he has developed into one. Art was the main vehicle through which he found purpose, meaning, and a means of communication to the outside world.
RoCA’s Faculty Exhibit celebrates the present vision of the teaching artists at RoCA. The exceptional faculty actively creates, teaches, and exhibits throughout the Hudson Valley and the U.S. All three exhibits will be on view through Sept 29 and are free to the general public.
Tickets are $35 a person/$40 at the door ($15 for students and veterans), and dinner for an additional $20 plus a cash bar. V.I.P. tickets are $100 per person and includes a meet & greet with John Hall, front row seats, one drink, and dinner. Tickets are available at rocklandartcenter.org. The V.I.P event begins at 7p. The rain date for this event is Sat Sept 28.
