Hudson Valley Film Fest Unveils Summer Lineup

Lee Corey at his talkback event

Nyack has a new film festival committed to bringing art house, independent, foreign films, and animation to the Hudson Valley. And while folks of all ages are warmly welcome, Hudson Valley Film is focused on film and animation, especially by creators of, or interesting to, generations X,Y, and Z.

The festival is the brain child of C. A. MacFinn, the young animator and filmmaker who is a Creative Lead at Nyack-based animation company CGMuse (http://cgmuse.com/). He and a group of like-minded millennial local friends working or interested in film wanted to see certain kinds of movies without traveling into the city. “There are so many great film-oriented offerings locally,” says MacFinn. “But even so, we thought there was an open niche to enjoy and promote the work of filmmakers and animators whose work was of, or important to, our generation. And we wanted to share that with a wider audience through talkbacks, where the audience can dialogue with innovative creators, and [through] screenings.”

Hudson Valley Film’s first offering, was a lively talkback with animator Lee Corey (whom millennials and their parents will especially remember from his work on Doug). The festival has a busy slate of upcoming summer events.
