Friday
- On the First Friday of each month, local businesses host art and music events.
- Check out artwork by Elaine Schloss and “Conversations” with the Nyack Art Collective. Listen to the artists speak about their work, techniques, and inspiration. 8-10p, 104 Main St, Nyack.
- From 6-7p there will be a reception for Chris Randolph, the First Friday Artist of the Month. Randolph is the director of the Rockland Living Museum at Rockland Psychiatric Center. Afterwards, she and Lisa Dominick will explore the idea that art is a natural and healing outlet for any kind of recovery. Gallery, 7-8p at Edward Hopper House, 82 N Broadway, Nyack.
- Enjoy classical guitar music by Liz Hogg. She will perform songs from her debut album as well as older material. 10:30p, Olive’s, 118a Main St, Nyack.
Saturday
- Strawtown Studio presents its new community workshop series The Four Elements. This Saturday, explore air–our connections with it, and how it works in balance with the other elements. - Get your derby hats out for the 145th running of the Kentucky Derby and join the festive Opening Reception in Honor of Artist Mitchell Martinez. This event benefits the Martinez family, whose Nyack home was damaged by a fire earlier in April. The gallery is exhibiting their small collection of his paintings. 2-8p, The ARCH Gallery, 23 N Broadway, Nyack.
- In the spirit of “Do One Thing” to make the world a better place, Rockland Center for the Arts is hosting a Do One Thing Art Exhibition and Sale. Celebrate the creativity and power of social activism. See and buy artwork by young and professional artists, all benefiting RoCA and the Blue Rock School.
