This week in the villages: Nyack Mayor Don Hammond announced there will be upcoming renovations to replace selected water mains and valves over a large portion of the village, and that these renovations will take place in phases over the next couple of years. Tuesday is the school budget vote and School Board trustee election day. Continued roadwork near the Mario Cuomo Bridge in Tarrytown necessitates overnight lane and ramp closures.
Village of Nyack
Message from Nyack Mayor Don Hammond
Over the next several months, the water infrastructure in the Village of Nyack and areas we service outside the village limits will undergo a series of renovations to replace selected water mains and valves. The work will optimize the flow of water into your homes and prevent any breakage due to the age of the current pipe system. The work zone will encompass a large portion of the village and will take place in phases over the next several years. We will do our best to minimize interruptions to water flow. We will keep you up to date via posts to our website and through emails as we approach the start of construction.
This is a necessary improvement for the village’s water system. As with any project, there are costs. The project will not increase your property taxes, but you will notice a change in your water bill. But the increase is minimal in comparison to the scope of the project–approximately $25 per year for a family of four.
Should you have any further questions, please contact the Village Administrator’s office at (845) 358-3581. — Nyack Mayor Don Hammond
