Knowledge Market morning and afternoon classes begin on February 21, and run each Thursday through March 14. Bob answers three questions about his upcoming course.
KM: Why this course now — what’s exciting to you about teaching this?
BT: Before even getting to the first class, I’m inspired to be teaching alongside some fantastc people exploring very important things. I’m energized by the challenge to make poetry and writing important, practical and useful for the every day. To break the spines of dusty things on the shelf, unwind the cobwebs in our minds, and help my classmates gain clarity and focus through joyful, practical writing exercises. I need it too. I am also on this journey.
KM: What can students expect from your course – what will they go home thinking/talking about?
BT: This is not a college course. It’s not a lecture hall. This is a spiritual exercise workshop for expression and focus. It will involve some show and tell, a game board, and you bring the pieces to the puzzle. You’ll look at things and thoughts from within and without, write as much or as little as you like, and go home each week with new perspective and direction and a poem or two. You will leave the course with a new take on focus and clarity for your day to day. Many possibilities how this will give you new direction: more walks in the woods, better project management, a more interesting commute, funnier conversations, where ever the path takes you…..
KM: Why did you want to be part of the Knowledge Market – what’s the appeal or importance of this concept for you?
BT: I was asked and I said yes. Sometimes it’s just that clear.
Bob’s class, The Mindful Poet, meets Thursday mornings from 9:30-11a, February 21-March 14. Registration is open! You can earn more and sign up at NyackKnows.com.
