The Villages: Falling Leaves and Budget Season

This week in the villages: The leaves have started falling and the village is on top of it: leaf collection has begun. The towns of Clarkstown and Orangetown have released their tentative budgets for next year. Village of Nyack and Upper Nyack residents have the opportunity to mingle with their mayors.

Village of Nyack

Mayor’s Monthly Meeting

Join Mayor Don Hammond on Tuesday, October 2 at 9a at Village Hall to hear about issues and happenings in Nyack.

Falling Leaves Protocol

Leaves should be piled neatly at the curb from now until December 5 or the first snow fall. Please do not block sidewalks, fire hydrants, or intersections. Leaf pick-up will occur on most work days with the exception of Mondays. Biodegradable bags are available at the DPW. No plastic bags for leaves or yard waste will be picked up. Please call the DPW at 845-358-3552 with any concerns.

Village of Upper Nyack

Visit the Hester Haring Cason Preserve with the Mayor

On Saturday, October 6 at 10a, walk with Mayor Tarapata at the new open space acquisition, the Hester Haring Cason Preserve. Access is restricted to accompanied walks at this time, while the property is cleaned up. Meet the group on N Midland, just north of Locust Dr. RSVP to Village Hall at 845-358-0084 or sign up online.

Town of Orangetown

Tentative Town Budget

Supervisor Chris Day’s proposed 2019 budget includes a tax cut. “The tentative budget winds up being the most Orangetown has ever fallen under the tax cap since its creation.” Day says the budget eliminates 14 positions spread across multiple town departments. Town of Clarkstown

Tentative Town Budget

Recently the town board received the 2019 Tentative Budget, the first step in adopting a budget for next year. The budget may be viewed at town.clarkstown.ny.us. A public hearing on the tentative budget is scheduled for November 8, 2018 at 7p.
