The Villages: Transportation Takes Center Stage

This week in the villages: Transportation takes center stage. There will be a meeting of the Rockland County Legislature’s Special Committee on Transit to discuss Hudson Links, the new service that will replace the Tappan Zee Express. There will be single lane closures on the bridge as work continues on the Rockland landing. And South and Upper Nyack residents have the opportunity to mingle with their mayors.

Rockland County

County Legislature Special Committee on Transit

There will be a public meeting of the Rockland County Legislature Special Committee on Transit on Thursday, Sept 20 at 7p in the Legislature’s Chambers, 11 New Hempstead Rd, New City.  The current and new Tappan Zee Express Bus service will be discussed, namely issues of dependability and the coming changes affecting Metro North commuters.

Northbound Single Lane Closures

Tappan Zee Constructors (TZC) is scheduled to continue roadway improvements and concrete slab installation on the New York State Thruway (I-87/I-287) near the Rockland landing. The work will require single-lane closures on the northbound/westbound Thruway from exit 9 (Tarrytown – Sleepy Hollow – US Route 9) to exit 10 (Nyack – South Nyack – US Route 9W).
Specific lane closure times are listed in the chart below.

Mon., 9/17 6:30 a.m. – One left lane 3 p.m. Northbound (I-87/I-287)
from exit 9 to exit 10
Tues., 9/18 6:30 a.m. – One left lane 3 p.m. Northbound
from exit 9 to exit 10
Wed., 9/19 6:30 a.m. – One left lane 3 p.m. Northbound
from exit 9 to exit 10
Thurs., 9/20 6:30 a.m. – One left lane 3 p.m. Northbound
from exit 9 to exit 10
Fri., 9/21 6:30 a.m. – One left lane 1 p.m. Northbound
from exit 9 to exit 10

Shared Use Path—Rockland Landing

Crews will continue drilling and installing piles along Hillside Avenue, necessitating temporary lane closures. Flag persons will keep traffic moving by alternating the directional flow between east and west. Ramp construction will also continue for the new connection between Interchange 10 and Hillside Avenue.
