The Villages: Skateboarding or Tennis Anyone?

This week in the villages it’s all about flushing, voting and volleying. Nyack Water Department customers please note there will be system wide water main flushing this week. There’s a Tuesday Nyack School District vote for two open board of education seats as well as budget and capital reserve referendums. If it’s spring time, it’s also time to enroll kids in Rec Dept spring tennis and skateboarding classes. Attention Upper Nyack residents: the village wants your input on its Comprehensive Plan.

Tappan Zee Bridge News

Girder/Roadway Deck Placement Will Temporarily Impact River Road/Piermont Avenue
Tappan Zee Constructors (TZC) is preparing to install steel girders and concrete deck panels for the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge over River Road in Grand View. The materials will connect the eastbound span of the new bridge to the on-land Rockland abutment. The process will take several weeks to complete and will result in minor traffic delays on Piermont Avenue in South Nyack and River Road in Grand View.
From now through Friday, May 18, expect single-lane alternating traffic and 20-minute traffic stops. During this period, motorists should expect traffic to be reduced to a single lane controlled by flag persons between 7a and 5:30p, Monday through Friday. Between 9a and 2:30p, motorists can expect periodic, 20-minute traffic stops, as steel girders are lifted into position over the roadway.
Overnight Lane Closures in Tarrytown

Following the installation of precast concrete slabs near the bridge’s Westchester landing, TZC is scheduled to proceed with grouting work in the area.
