Town of Orangetown
Aluf Update
Results from Phase II of the ambient air chemical testing, conducted throughout that section of town in order to test for potential elevated levels of certain chemicals and address gaps in information and potentially concerning results regarding Acrolein from Phase I, indicate that the initially high short-term Acrolein results were in fact due to issues with the canisters that were used. The results, as analyzed by both TRC and Orangetown’s Air Quality Review Committee, “indicate the air has minimal to no risk for residents, with all levels of all chemicals falling below the Short Term Guideline Concentrations (SGC’s), and most falling below the Annual Guideline Concentrations (AGC’s).” The TRC report is available on the Orangetown.com website, and the Air Quality Review Committee memo may also be found there.

Tappan Zee Bridge News
Overnight Lane Closures in Tarrytown
Tappan Zee Constructors (TZC) is scheduled to continue installing new precast concrete slabs near the Mario Cuomo Bridge’s Westchester landing. The work will create a new base roadway for the twin-span crossing’s connection to the Thruway when the second span opens later this year. It requires overnight lane closures on the northbound New York State Thruway (I-87/I-287). Work will also necessitate closing the northbound Thruway exit 9 (Tarrytown – Sleepy Hollow – US Route 9) on-ramp from Route 119 during the overnights of Monday, April 30, and Tuesday, May 1. Drivers will be detoured approximately one mile east on Route 119 to access the northbound Thruway (see map below). The exit 9 off-ramp will remain accessible from the northbound Thruway.
At least one lane will remain open at all times. Specific lane closure times are listed in the chart below.
