Earth Day is fast approaching. Looking for a way to give back? The 2018 Great American Cleanup is one option–an easier one than buying an electric car and a more effective one than buying an electric toothbrush.
So what is the 2018 Great American Cleanup?
The event aims to help remove tons of litter from our streets, parks, and waterways. It’s a great way to make a positive, lasting difference in your community and work towards a healthy local environment. Last year, 3,000 volunteers helped make Rockland a cleaner, greener county.
Keep Rockland Beautiful has been facilitating community involvement and environmental stewardship for more than 20 years. Their cleanups are excellent family activities, team-building exercises, and offer fun for all. Including kids: Keep an eye out for Cleanup KiRBy, the Keep Rockland Beautiful mascot who hides at every cleanup!
The Great American Cleanup kicked off on April 7th in Valley Cottage. Nyack residents can pariticipate on April 21. (See chart below for other counties’ event dates.) At each of these events there will be a campaign t-shirt. Be sure to bring a reusable water bottle and work gloves.

There will also be a Great American Cleanup Wrap-Up Party at Germonds Park on Friday, June 1st. Admission will be free for all Keep Rockland Beautiful volunteers to thank them for the crucial role they play in keeping our County clean and green.
Online registration for volunteers is open on www.keeprocklandbeautiful.org. For more information, check out the website, email info@keeprocklandbeautiful.org, or call (845) 708-9164.
