Nyack Weekender: 2017 Ends On An “Upbeat”

 
This weekend offers a music lovers’ feast serving prime (cold!) cuts of folk, adult alternative, reggae, jazz and rockabilly. Before you head out, you can work off a few pounds too.

Friday

  • Come for coffee and a bite and stay for the music as the Chirp Cafe Music Series presents 17-year old singer/songwriter and Westchester native Saya at Art Cafe. She will perform an acoustic set of songs from soft folk ballads to upbeat pop-rock anthems. 9p, 65 S Broadway, Nyack.
  • It’s the last Friday of the year, so head to Maura’s Kitchen for some delicious Peruvian fare and live music with Dan Lopez. 9p, 81-83 S Broadway, Nyack.

Saturday

  • Run or walk with Frosty the Snowman as you work off some of those holiday pounds at the Snowflake 5K Run/Walk to benefit the Nyack Community Ambulance Youth Corps program. 8a race day registration, 10a race begins, 251 N Midland Ave, Nyack.
  • Relax, kick back, enjoy some wine or distilled spirits and listen to the very melodic, tuneful, and hooky approach to acoustic pop/rock and adult alternative of Alice Leon at Torne Valley Vineyards. Open to the public at 11a, music begins at 1p, Torne Valley Rd, Hillburn.
  • Close out the old year with something special. 95 1/2 Main presents an Erik Lawrence Solo Concert, Sound Work Talk and Potluck. Erik will perform solo, using saxophone and flutes, loops, spoken poems and stories and recorded texts in a streaming concert of thoughtful inspiration. 4p sound talk, 6p concert and potluck, 95 1/2 Main St, Nyack.
  • The Pete Levin “Organ” Trio featuring Mike DeMicco and Jeff Siegelis take the stage at Maureen’s Jazz Cellar. 8 & 9:30p, 2 N Broadway, Nyack.

New Year’s Eve

  • Ring in the new year to a reggae beat. No Discipline performs live at Casa del Sol. The regular menu will be available along with some amazing dinner specials. 104 Main St, Nyack.
  • Why go to Manhattan to celebrate when you can go incognito at the Masquerade Bash featuring DJ Chris Narotic at BV’s Grill at The Time Nyack. 9p, 400 High St, Nyack.
  • The Slippery Chickens bring their rockabilly, punkabilly, N’awlins flavored blues and rock ‘n’ roll to O.D.’s to end the year on a high note. 10p, 66 Main St, Nyack.
