Nyack Weekender: Laugh, Dance and Cyclo-Cross

This weekend be prepared to roar with laughter and experience music like you never have before. On Saturday, Rx: Laughter at the Nyack Village Theatre will leave you in stitches and the Slambovian Circus of Dreams at The Turning Point brings you a musical experience like no other. There’s lots of family fun with magic & music, a barn dance, a cyclo-cross race and a model aircraft exhibition. If you want to shop until you drop, there’s a fashion event and a handmade arts and crafts show to cross some names off that holiday list. Comedic theater, acrobatic poetry and classical music round out the offerings.

Get ready for a riveting, mesmerizing, crazy, amazing machine of music as the Slambovian Circus of Dreams bring their rootsy psychedelica, hillbilly-Pink Floyd, folk-pop and surreal Americana to The Turning Point. Formed in Sleepy Hollow and influenced by the Waterboys, Bob Dylan, Bowie, Cracker, Pink Floyd, The Decemberists, Incredible String Band and Leonard Cohen, they pioneered the alt-folk circuit. Need a pre-holiday destressor? Rx: Laughter, a night of great stand-up comedy, is just what the doctor ordered. Host Ryan DeNisco, awarded funniest person in the Hudson Valley, is joined by Lyssy Sequoia, Mike Lebovitz and John Kim. This show is guaranteed to leave you in stitches.   • Edgar Allan Poe’s The Raven as you’ve never seen before. Nevermore tells the story of lost love and harrowing apparitions in a vivid series of aerial acrobatics and dream sequences.
