This Week In The Villages: The children’s playground at Nyack’s Memorial Park will be getting new sprinklers next spring. Nyack Hospital has a new Director for Emergency Medicine. Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a law with ramifications for Clarkstown taxpayers. And it’s 18 days and counting until the north span of the new Tappan Zee Bridge is open for business.

Village of Nyack

The Nyack Park Conservancy  and the the Village of Nyack have received a $200,000 grant from the New NY Bridge Community Benefits Fund to replace the children’s sprinklers in Memorial Park with a zero depth splash pad. The splash pad installation will add an aesthetically pleasing and highly useful facility to the park. The Nyack Park Conservancy hopes to the new sprinklers online for Memorial Day 2018.
Nyack Hospital has appointed Jeffrey S. Rabrich, DO, FACEP Medical Director for Emergency Medicine. Dr. Rabrich is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and subspecialty Boarded in EMS Medicine. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and member of the Emergency Medicine Faculty on the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners.

It’s not too late. Take the Nyack Waterfront survey and share your river front ideas.

The Village of Nyack Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP) wants to know: Where do we go from here? They want to hear from residents, visitors, business owners and Hudson River fans throughout the region. Share your river views in a 10 minute online survey. Don’t delay: survey period closes mid-August.

Town of Clarkstown

Governor Cuomo signed legislation to help Clarkstown taxpayers and it was adopted by the town board at a special meeting. The bill limits the shift between classes of taxable property in the Town of Clarkstown. Fluctuations between commercial and residential tax classes can lead to confusing tax increases for homeowners and businesses. This legislation limits those shifts in the Town of Clarkstown to 1% a year, smoothing out the effects on taxpayers. Clarkstown is the first town in Rockland County to enact this legislation.

Tappan Zee Bridge News

Tappan Zee Express buses rolled across the TZB on Sun August 6…for the first time in the 28 year history of the Rockland County Department of Transportation. Sunday service was added thanks to MTA funding. Saturday service received an upgrade as well. Want to know when the next TZx bus or Metro North Train leaves for NYC or Nyack? Tappan Zee Constructors (TZC) are completing work to move westbound traffic from the old bridge to the north span of the new Tappan Zee Bridge during the overnight hours of August 25. This includes wearing surface preparations and paving, which has progressed from the Rockland approach to the main span. Work will continue across the Westchester approach in the coming weeks.
TZC continues to install structural steel sections and stay cables on the eastbound main span, with connections to the Westchester and Rockland approaches completed this week. To date, 76 of the eastbound span’s 96 stay cables have been installed.
