Nyack High School Senior Dies on Graduation Day

by James Montesano, Ed.D. Superintendent of Nyack Schools
Nyack, June 22 — An unthinkable tragedy involving a member of our Nyack Public Schools community. It is with great sadness that I must inform you that Nyack High School graduating senior Kailana Koether died this morning.
Our sincere condolences and thoughts go out to the Koether family and friends.
As our school community begins to process the tragic loss and copes with grief, the district is offering professional counseling and bereavement support services today to all of our students and staff. Those looking to talk should enter the main entrance of the high school where you will be guided to a safe room for counseling.
Again, our deepest condolences are with Kailana’s family during this difficult time.
