The scheduled Tues March 14 public hearing will be open as planned and will be immediately continued to the next night Wed March 15. A second meeting is also scheduled for Tues March 21. All three Orangetown Public Hearings on Data Center Zoning at Rockland Psychiatric Center meetings will begin at 8p.

Due to the snowstorm, the Town Board will hold only a brief meeting on Tuesday night to officially open our scheduled public hearing on the zone change for the data center project on town land at the Rockland Psychiatric Center. No public testimony will be received on Tuesday night Mar 14. The Town Board plans to vote to continue the public hearing on Wednesday, March 15, at 8p, when the public is further invited to attend and comment. On the March 15, the Orangetown Town Board is likely to continue the public hearing again to Tuesday, March 21 at 8 pm, to insure ample opportunity for public comment before taking further action on the zone change and others matters related to the sale of 60 acres of town land to JPM Chase to build a data center.
As a reminder, the town meetings alternate between “workshop” (review of draft agenda prior to votes during subsequent meeting) and “regular” (town board action on agenda items). This week is a workshop meeting. This week is also a public hearing on the topic of the proposed zone change for the datacenter project. Making sure there is adequate opportunity for public access and participation in this and all other Town Board decisions is a high priority and the above plan provides this opportunity in spite of the coming snowstorm.
Please make all efforts to stay off the roads and stay home safe during the snowstorm to allow our plow crews to do their work, and to avoid accidents during a time when emergency responders will be very busy.
