Road Repaving Continues

Nyack’s streets have been quiet for the past few weeks, as many families have been away on vacation. But when traveling Nyackers return from this Labor Day weekend, they’ll find a new kind of quiet: smooth roads. The village has just repaved five streets and crack sealed (“preventive work to increase the lifespan of the road surface”) more than 20 roads. But they’re not done yet.
These are the streets that the village has milled and repaved:

  1. Washington Street – Cedar Hill to Main
  2. Summit Street – Cedar Hill to Main
  3. Jackson Avenue – Franklin to Washington
  4. Fifth Avenue – Central to NYS Rt 9W
  5. High Avenue – Midland to Polhemus

Still to come:

Midland Ave Rebuild — Starting Sept (will take months) – “We are receiving bids for the milling, paving, limited sidewalk work and limited drainage work, on Midland Avenue. – from Cedar Hill to the northern [Upper Nyack border],” the village said. “The project is scheduled to begin in mid-September.”

The village has allocated nearly $595,000 for road maintenance work this year, a small (1.12 percent) increase from last year’s road maintenance allocation.
