Look to your left. Look to your right. Look in the mirror. Chances are you’re looking at someone whose family has been affected—even devastated—by alcohol or drug addiction.
Rockland’s own grassroots addiction recovery nonprofit, the Rockland Council on Addiction and Other Drug Dependence (RCADD) is holding its ninth annual 5K Run/Walk for Recovery on Saturday, August 27, 2016, 9a, at Rockland Lake State Park. The purpose of the event will be to help educate and support people affected by substance abuse disorders, to teach the public that addiction is a treatable disease, and to celebrate the lives of those who have recovered.

Public and private agencies are staggering under the weight of a mounting heroin epidemic and funding is scarce for those seeking long-term help for life-long recovery. Lend a hand to this local organization, which has been working hard to fill the gap between a stay in rehab and a return to a healthy, productive life since 1973.
Race-day on-site registration is available, but over 200 runners and walkers are already signed up, so register now. And rally with your neighbors on Saturday for a great cause.
I’ll see you there.
