Men Cooking: Sun at Nyack Center

Every Nyack Center fundraiser is worthwhile. But there’s only one that traditionally features three to five varieties of pulled pork — in addition to Japanese salads and French pastries. That fundraiser is the Nyack Center’s annual Men Cooking event, in which over 60 of the community’s men — some professional chefs (including from Roost, Hudson House, and Didier Dumas), some mere backyard barbecuers — prepare a dish, and attendees are given carte blanche. Men Cooking will take place tonight at the Nyack Center from 5-7p.
This year’s event is the 15th edition of Men Cooking. The participating chefs will once again vie for the elusive best entree, best appetizer, and best dessert awards. Several children will also prepare food, and compete for the best child entry. Nyack’s Pie Lady & Son will judge each category.
In addition to the food, there will be a small auction, in which attendees can bid on items such as a signed baseball and chef’s baskets. Broadway actor Kevin Pariseau will be the auctioneer.
All proceeds from Men Cooking go to the Nyack Center, which provides vital childcare and after school programs for low-income Rockland families. Admission is $20 for adults, $10 for children, and $50 for families.
