Over 21,000 people turned out for Nyack’s 28th annual Halloween Parade on Sat October 24, bolstering the Chamber of Commerce’s claim that it’s the biggest if not baddest parade in the tri-state area (2nd only to the parade in Greenwich Village).
Over $2,000 in prizes were awarded for the best floats and best costumes. Carolee Stoll’s “Christmas Hum-V” team took top honors for Best Float. Nyack’s Little School House, with a miniature version of the school house, won second for $500. Blue Rock School captured the third place slot for a $250 prize with its entry entitled “Let Your Imagination Come to Life.”

The Zakko family successfully defended the 2014 best group title with their “Ghost Busters” entry. Winners in the “best couple” category were Bill and Jamie Osborne, portraying another Osborne couple — Ozzie and Sharon.
Additional parade highlights included the Hudson Valley Harley Riders, Rockland Boulders and local fire departments. Three of Rockland County’s top bands set the beat, including the Nyack, Nanuet and Clarkstown high school marching bands. There was live music before and after the parade by the Clearwater Chorus, Dave Reiss and Friends, and Frankie D and The Boys.
