TZB This Wk: Something Old, Something New, A Few Billion Borrowed…

There will be more overnight closings this week near the old Tappan Zee Bridge to permit installation of a new all electronic toll collection. On Thursday at 6:30p, Nyack High School will host the annual Rockland County meeting about construction of the New NY Bridge (which you will probably just call the new Tappan Zee Bridge).

Night time construction on the Thruway continues this week. The South Broadway on ramp to the TZB will be closed to traffic beginning at 10p Monday night. Additionally, one lane at 8p, followed by two lanes at 9p and finally three lanes at 10p will be closed Mon-Fri nights this week between Exits 10 and 11 to allow construction of the toll-collector-less electronic toll collection system. There were similar closing last week; expect the same procedure next week with a break for the Memorial Day traffic.

Real time traffic information — including helpful live webcams — can be found online at Thruway.NY.gov.

What’s Going On With The New Tappan Zee Bridge?

If you’ve crossed the old bridge and wondered about the unfolding episode of Modern Marvels just north of the TZB, here’s your chance to stop stealing a peek out your passenger window and see the complete PowerPoint. The New NY Bridge’s annual public meetings happens this Thurs May 14 from 6:30-8p at Nyack High School. Hosted by Brian Conybeare, special advisor to the governor for the project, the meeting will cover construction progress and upcoming activities. Nyack High School is located at 360 Christian Herald Rd. in Upper Nyack

If you can’t make Thursday’s meeting, there will be another session earlier in the week at Washington Irving Middle School, 103 S. Broadway in Tarrytown on Tuesday, also at 6:30p.
